Background/IRC Summary:

IRC has been working in Pakistan for over 40 years, and manages and delivers large, complex programs to meet the needs in health, education, protection, environmental health, and livelihoods for displaced, poor, and disaster-affected communities. IRC works in partnership with local government and non-governmental organizations and is currently present in 4 provinces including Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the newly Merged Districts of KP – Ex Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

IRC Pakistan will be implementing different projects/ thematic areas in the Province like WASH, Health, education, protection, GBV, multipurpose cash distributions etc. The projects are focusing Govt institutions and communities.

Job Overview/Summary:

GEDI Officer is responsible to provide project and administrative support to the implementation of activities.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to Sr. Manager GEDI in implementation of key gender and inclusion components at office and field level in province.
  • Provide support in preparing work plans and inputs for project reports related to GEDI work.
  • Regularly mentor inclusive support or self-help groups and conduct monthly meetings within programs.
  • Provide Life Skills trainings Transgender persons in program target areas, as per requirements.
  • Provide psychosocial support to marginalized groups in community i.e., PWDs, Women/Adolescent girls (where feasible), transgender persons, and other vulnerable groups as per program needs.
  • Promote awareness and implementation of IASC Gender Guidelines in IRC programs at Provincial level.
  • Support Project/Program Managers for ensuring diversity and inclusivity in their respective sectors/projects through technical backstopping, training, and field visits.
  • Produce high quality reports/bulletins on the impacts/results of GEDI implementation and share learning at different levels.

Implementation of GEDI Action Plan (GAP):

  • Coordinate GEDI working Group’s meeting and support in agenda setting, follow up on actions and reporting back on action plan.
  • Work closely with the team to cultivate an inclusive culture in the organization by proposing and implementing concrete actions as listed in GAP.
  • Build the capacities of the overall staff in understanding inclusion dynamics including but not limited to gender, age and disability and responding to respective concerns and needs in a wise and mature manner.
  • Provide technical support to the GEDI Champions to develop their work plans, roles, and responsibilities and strategies for implementation of activities.
  • Work closely with Women at Work (W@W) network to highlight inclusion issue for women and other gender minority staff.

Learning and Evaluation

  • Engage with program, operations and MEAL team to maintain an up-to-date GEDI analysis on periodic basis as per IMPACT Standards of IRC.
  • Work closely with client responsiveness team to develop gender appropriate proactive and reactive; channels and tools, analysis of clients’ data and propose corrective actions from inclusion perspective in terms of gender, age and disability.
  • Capture and share learning and innovation from IRC’s GEDI implementation with senior staff in country.

Coordination and Representation

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders - including local partners, NGOs, and other IRC sectors to enhance multi-agency and multi-sectoral cooperation and coordination.
  • Ensure other sectors incorporate access to services for women and girls and gender mainstreaming into their programs through trainings and gender sensitive program development.
  • Represent IRC in relevant coordination meetings, public and policy advocacy forums, conferences, and trainings.
  • Work closely with the Research Unit (if needed) to compile the analysis and interpretation of inclusion issues and statistical data and prepare quality analysis and reports.
  • Identify GEDI actors/organizations in the district and further engaging them for varied capacities.
  • Identify and collect policy-related and other relevant information, documents and data, compile and analyse data for further use in project management.
  • Support organization and coordination of meetings, training sessions, workshops, conferences, and project events and prepare reports and meeting minutes, as required.
  • Draft correspondence on projects issues and challenges related to GEDI, as required.
  • Maintain cooperation and communication with projects’ partners and beneficiaries on the implementation of the agreed activities, especially for the events, trainings, workshops, etc.
  • Facilitate knowledge building and knowledge sharing within the programme.
  • Provide support in data collection, compiling lessons learned and sharing with the supervisor.
  • Support MEAL for monitoring unintended consequences of transformation process in communities.
  • Facilitate the community to pass their complaints to the management through CRM in a transparent manner.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Coordination with: Snr. Manager -GEDI and Program teams Position directly supervises: None

Job Requirements:

a) Education:

Bachelors/ master’s degree in Gender studies/Inclusion/Psychology or another relevant field

b) Work Experience:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in GEDI projects, preferably in an NGO environment

c) Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  •  Strong interpersonal, and communication skills

Language Skills:

  • Must be fluent in Urdu & Pashto languages.
  • Proficiency in English
